Metamorphosis
2010-05-05 to 2010-07-05
NEW YORK CITY, May 5, 2010 — Nohra Haime Gallery today celebrates its relocation to an expansive new space in the Crown Building (730 Fifth Avenue at 57th Street) in the heart of the Midtown gallery district. The new space, designed by Timothy Macdonald with lighting by Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design, incorporates rooms specially dedicated to sculpture and to video work, as well as a major central gallery that can accommodate large-installations. With some 6,000 square feet of space, the new facility transforms the exhibition program of Nohra Haime Gallery, offering new and varied possibilities for the display of modern and contemporary art.
To mark this transformation, Nohra Haime Gallery opens its new space with the inaugural group show Metamorphosis, featuring works on the theme of change by 27 artists, including Louise Nevelson, Fernando Botero, Roberto Matta, Niki de Saint Phalle, Hugo Tillman and Takashi Murakami. The exhibition will remain on view through July 5, 2010.
The artists in the exhibition include Natalia Arias, Hugo Bastidas, Rosalyn Bodycomb, Nicola Bolla, Fernando Botero, Carol K. Brown, Christopher Brown, Andrea Chiesi, Juan Downey, Pierre Dunoyer, Julie Hedrick, Heather Hutchison, Jim Hodges, Julio Larraz, Leopoldo Maler, Roberto Matta, Silvio Merlino, Keith Milow, Takashi Murakami, Louise Nevelson, Niki de Saint Phalle, Eve Sonneman, Adam Straus, Francisca Sutil, Hugo Tillman and Sophia Vari.
